Santa Maria Tri-Tip Sandwich and Strawberry Mousse

This is a winner. I was not able to find tri-tip roast at the butcher so I used a tip roast which worked fine. Charlie thought the meat could have been cut differently to make it more sandwich friendly. I don't know if the tri-tip would have made a difference. In any case, the BBQ sauce was wonderful and I grilled the french bread so we all ate way more than we should have. Grilled asparagus went well with the meat.

Dessert was Strawberry Mousse which is in the Art of the Grill book even though it has nothing to do with the grill. It was very good but I am looking forward to trying it again when strawberries are in season! It might need a little sugar when the berries are not quite at their peak.

  2. The tri tip was my absolute favorite of this entire grilling marathon. Serving it over grilled bread was a brilliant stroke, and the post is correct that we all ate as much as possible.
The strawberry mousse was one of the recipes that has nothing to do with a grill, but just goes well with grilled food. There is nothing particularly great about this mousse recipe, so just make your own favorite.
